Brigid - Woman, Saint, Goddess?
Some scholars suggest that (Christian) believers syncretised St Brigid with the pagan goddess Brighid. According to medievalist Pamela Berger, ” Christian monks took the ancient figure of the mother goddess and grafted her name and functions onto her Christian counterpart.”
